In terms of style I understand you wish to retain the garden’s Victorian heritage, but can you say anything else about the style of garden you are looking for moving forward?

e.g., sleek, neat & unfussy; informal & relaxed; positively wild

How do you want your new garden to feel?

eg:- “strong & characterful”, “warm & inviting” or “fun & friendly”?

How often do you use the existing garden?

Do you expect to spend more time outside once you have your new garden?

How do you feel about colour?

e.g., lots of colour; a particular colour; 50 shades of green

Any plants, or types of plants, you particularly love?

And any plants you'd prefer to avoid?

Any existing plants or features that you’d be sad to see go?

How do you feel about the great outdoors?

e.g., sun lovers; shade seekers, or just happy to be outdoors whatever the weather

Do you have a favourite holiday spot, special place or anything else you’d like to evoke?

How do you envisage the dogs using the garden moving forward?

e.g. Access All Areas or a cordoned off part of the garden only? If so, do you need them to be able to access this without you accompanying them into the garden to open a gate (I assume this is the case?)

Where do you think your plant knowledge currently sits?

Do you want to increase privacy or security, or screen a view?

Are there times when you won’t use the garden?

e.g., always away at Easter; most of August; won’t use at all in winter etc

Listings & restrictions

We know Rockmount is a Grade II Listed building that sits within a Conservation Area and as such all the Trees are protected. Is there anything else we should be aware of with regards to its Listed Status?

Any listed garden features, scheduled monuments?

Does the garden lie within the boundaries of a National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), or a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)?

Rights of way

Are there any rights of way, public footpaths or other rights of access over your garden, or do you have any over neighbouring land/gardens?

For example it is vague where the official boundary lies between yourselves and number 126, it seems their side wall is the boundary? Do they have official Right of Way to access that tap at the side of their house - or were you just being friendly to the guys repairing the wall?

Buildings & structures

Are there any structural issues affecting any existing buildings, retaining walls or other structures?

Are there any old concrete footings, remnants of old outbuildings, walls or paths, air raid shelters?

Geological & natural factors

Is there any history of subsidence or land heave?

Is there any history of flooding?

Is there any history of mining or quarrying in the area?

Is there any existing, or history of, serious pest, disease, or notifiable weeds?

e.g. Japanese knotweed, honey fungus, ash die back, oak processionally moth, sudden oak death

Anything else you think we should know?
